OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD GIFT BOXES

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for the submission of Operation Christmas Child boxes is Sunday, November 23rd, so that they can be taken to the drop-off centre. For guidelines or ideas as to what to fill the boxes with, go to The Samaratan's Purse website.

ADVENT

For this year’s Advent, we are planning a new approach. The theme will be entitled ‘The Coming of the Lord’. Under this theme, the four Sundays leading up to Christmas will be as follows:

  • Advent 1: Expectation
  • Advent 2: The fear of the Lord
  • Advent 3: Peace / Rest
  • Advent 4: Great Rejoicing

FORMING A CHOIR

For the Christmas Eve service at 11:00 p.m., we are hoping to have a choir. If you are interested in forming a choir at St. Ninian's, please speak to John, our organist for the 8:45 a.m. service. You can reach him at 416-893-9482.

FOOD BANK

Male Volunteer needed for Food Bank for 2-3 hours on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon to unload the truck. Please notify the office at 416-438-2211 if interested.

The Food bank is in constant need of plastic grocery bags; their supply is always running low. Please save your plastic grocery bags for them and leave them outside the Food Bank door.

ALL WOMEN OF ST. NINIAN'S

Our next meeting will be on Saturday November 29 at 7pm. The theme for the evening will be: PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS. Please bring your favourite Christmas cookie/square recipe with copies to share, if possible, and a few to sample. Hope to see you for an evening of fun, food and fellowship. Babysitting also available.

TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND

Brochures to the Holy Land Pilgrimage Tour are now available in the narthex. It contains the travel itinerary and a breakdown of Tour Cost. Registration forms are also available. A $300 deposit is required immediately by International Heritage Tours, which is refundable 90 days before departure and full payment 60 days before departure. If interested, please see Andy.

EASTER COMMUNITY IN CHRIST

Community in Christ is an event being planned for some time next Easter where people from the congregation could come apart from the world for a day or two and spend that time focusing on the Lord and developing relationships with each other. We will be having a brain storming session on Sunday, Nov 23 after the 10:45 service at Terry's restaurant, corner of Markham Rd and Ellesmere Ave. Anybody interested in this event is welcome to come, attending this lunch does not obligate you to actually help plan the event. THE LIVING WORD

We are starting what I am calling ‘The Living Word’. Each week one person from each service will share a verse of scripture that has impacted their life and explain how it has impacted them. There is a sign up sheet at the back of the church with dates, so that you can share on that date. Please no more than two minutes and it will come during the regular readings.
