ANDY'S PENTECOST MESSAGE

Dear Family at St. Ninian’s,

This season is the time when the Spirit of the Lord was poured out on the early disciples of Jesus. Our generation desperately needs that same Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit transformed the early disciples from fearful and timid, we too can be transformed by that same spirit into courageous, bold and powerful disciples of Jesus Christ. Someone once said that we need to seize the moment; well, this is the moment in our history, that we need to actively and decisively be filled and changed by the Spirit of God. We need to absolutely be yielded to His sovereign rule. He is God present in us to do the works of Jesus, i.e. signs and wonders. There is no limit to what he can do through us if we are open to allow him full access with our lives. It is the Spirit that makes a difference in our Christianity. There is no way that we can live out our faith in our own strength. It is only by the Spirit says Paul, both by it fruit (Galations 5) and the gifts (1 Corinthians 12) that form the life of a believer. Yes, the day of Pentecost was and is a decisive moment in history; let us together celebrate this powerful moment and claim (Joel 2) that in the last days, God will pour out the Spirit on all flesh. In an act of submission, let us surrender our lives wholeheartly to the Spirit of God and then with great expectation, see what God will do through us.
