| Purpose: | To develop and nurture a personal relationship between Youth and Jesus Christ |
| Population(s) served: | the majority of persons under the age of 25 |
Skills / Qualifications:
- a mature Christian, acknowledging Jesus as the one true Christ, Lord, and means to salvation
- acknowledge the Bible (as recognized by the Anglican tradition) as the very infallible word of God
- lives a biblically sound lifestyle
- acceptable knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology
- be able to take instruction and work under the appropriate leadership
- have a basic understanding of the development, and psychological stages of youth
- a working grasp of Youth Culture
- ability to assess and then implement case specific ministries
- ability to inspect and identify ministry opportunities in community
- position requires a Police Records Check

Training Provided:
- the bulk of the individual’s training will be provided by another institution prior to hiring
- funds, resources and time will be made available to the Youth Pastor for continuing education upon request (dependant on availability and appropriateness)
- Diocesan Sexual Misconduct Training every 3 years
Meeting Date & Time:
- meet with the Incumbent once weekly
- monthly Advisory Board meetings
- weekly Youth programs
Time Commitment Involved:
- as outlined in the contract, but weekly hours shall not exceed that which is prohibited by the labour laws
- currently, a 40 hour work week is set
- when occasionally necessary to exceed the 40 hours, it is the Youth Pastor’s responsibility to adjust schedule accordingly during subsequent weeks to account for over time
Duties & Responsibilities:
- maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- maintain a healthy personal life
- supervisory, developmental and nurturing role to the Youth in the parish
- maintaining a safe environment for all involved in the Youth programs
- recruit and screen leaders according to the Responsible Ministry: Screening in Faith Policy
- effectively communicate pertinent youth events to the congregation
- follow the Responsible Ministry: Screening in Faith Policy guidelines
- constant communication regarding ministry with Incumbent
- manage Youth finances
Limits of the Position:
- must adhere to Biblical guidelines for ministry
- must adhere to Diocesan Ministry Guidelines
- must comply with all policies governing confidentiality
